DemocracyReady NY is a non-partisan, multigenerational coalition operating across New York State, dedicated to preparing all students for civic life.
They work collectively to:
- Raise awareness about every student’s right under the state constitution to an education that prepares them for civic participation.
- Strengthen policy, practice, and investment to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions they need to engage effectively in civic and political life, today and in the future.
- Eliminate inequities in access to P-12 civic learning opportunities.
- Mobilize youth, families, educators, researchers, advocates, policymakers, and philanthropy to advance these goals.
They focus on integrating civic education in grades P-12 by supporting policy, practice, and investment so that schools can fully equip students for responsibility and democracy. Through initiatives like their Youth Cohort (ages 16-21), research reports on early-grade civic learning, member resources, and statewide engagements, they advocate for inclusive, ongoing civic learning
